This past Saturday was the annual Kelly get together in Canada. Most of Mike’s extended family lives just across the river in Windsor. They used to get together around Christmas, but with the family growing, and getting older it was moved to the summer.
We were excited for Colt to take his first trip through the tunnel to meet all of his Great Aunts, Great Uncles, and cousins.
We didn’t have any trouble crossing the border, and we received our usual heckle from the border crossing agents about having Canadian family. (Yes, from the Canadian agents!)
We stopped at the store so that we could purchase a few butter tarts, and a new favorite, Tim Tams. We decided against the Ketchup chips, and definitely passed on the poutine flavored Lay’s. Mike and I also stopped in the LCBO to pick up some Irish Hard Cider and beer.
Colt was the hit of the party! Margaret had a blast showing off her smiling grandson. He definitely was quite the happy boy and pretty well behaved. The only trouble was getting him down for a nap. But he slept good while we all ate and caught up.
It wasn’t a long trip. We were headed home by 7:30 or so. And we had no trouble at all getting back into the States.
By the time we got home, we were all pretty tired. I was thankful to have Sunday to get back on schedule. I’m looking forward to getting our patio done and hopefully hosting the next Kelly party.
